Ordering Materials Through Interlibrary Loan

*NOTE: Interlibrary Loan service is limited to current LBCC students and employees. It is generally available only during the regular academic year.

If you are in the library, you may request a print Interlibrary Loan form from the circulation desk.

If you are outside the library, you can search and place interlibrary loan requests using WorldCat.

Interlibrary Loan FAQs

What is Interlibrary Loan?

  • Interlibrary Loan is a courtesy service provided by many libraries allowing patrons to order and receive materials from other libraries.

Who can use this service at LBCC?

  • Current LBCC students, faculty, and staff may use the library's Interlibrary Loan service.

How long do materials take to arrive?

  • Depending on the availability of materials and their proximity to LBCC, it may take up to a week to fill a request.

What types of materials may I request?

  • The LBCC Library will place requests for all types of library materials. The following types of materials, however, may be difficult for the library to obtain: CDs/DVDs/VHS, dissertations, rare books.

For how long may I check out materials through Interlibrary Loan?

  • The checkout duration is set by the lending library, so it will vary. LBCC Library staff will inform you of the return date when you pick up materials.

May I renew Interlibrary Loan requests?

  • Yes, but ... The Library will make the request for renewal on your behalf. The lending library, however, reserves the privilege to allow or deny your request.
