Ordering Materials Through Interlibrary Loan

*NOTE: Interlibrary Loan service is limited to current LBCC students and employees. It is generally available only during the regular academic year.

If you are in the library, you may request a print Interlibrary Loan form from the circulation desk.

If you are outside the library, you can search and place interlibrary loan requests using WorldCat.

Course Reserves

  • LBCC faculty may place items on reserve by bringing them to the library with a filled out Course reserves form.
  • It can take several days to a week for us to process items. To have them ready for checkout at the start of the year or term, bring them to us at least a week in advance.

Course reserves are a way to temporarily make available materials that students need for coursework, either required or optional reading/viewing. These are usually the books or DVDs listed in the class syllabus, recommended testing books for students preparing for an exam, or items students need to reference for an assignment.

These items have limited checkout periods of two hours or three days, so that multiple students can access the item before an assignment is due. Reserves items are kept behind service counters and may be restricted to library building use only. The library cannot guarantee the availability of materials when there is high demand. Faculty and students are expected to abide by applicable copyright and fair use laws.

LBCC faculty may place items on reserve by bringing them to the Albany campus library or HOC library in Lebanon and filling out a reserves form. You may also complete the form in advance and bring it with your reserve items to the library. Library-owned materials may be placed on reserve by pulling the item from the stacks, giving to library personnel, and filling out a reserves form for it. Please do not submit materials borrowed from other libraries for reserve at the LBCC Library.

Information Literacy Instruction and Support

LBCC Librarians provide workshops teaching Information Literacy concepts to your students, including how to do library research, how to use periodical databases, finding and evaluating information from the Internet, and how to avoid plagiarism. We work with teaching faculty to tailor sessions to course learning outcomes, addressing those concepts and skills necessary for students to do college level research. In addition, the library also provides the following instructional services:

Class Assignment Web Pages

The library will create web pages specifically for course assignments, which include recommended research tools, ideas for working through the research process, and other suggestions to help students be successful with the assignment.

Help with Assignment Design

For instructors looking to improve existing assignments or wanting to create a new one, librarians can help design effective research assignments.

Tip Sheets or Tutorials for Research Tools

Librarians will create video mini-tutorials or web page tip sheets on particular research tools by request.

Individual Help for Students

Students can make appointments with a librarian for individual help with their research projects. Librarians are also available for drop-in help at the Reference Desk.
